From a speech yesterday: If you look at our map, our big map, Crimea and Sevastopol look like a small dot, but we are talking about the restoration of historical justice. We are talking about the importance of this land for our country and our people. Why? It is very simple. Our ancestors have been... Read More
This has not been a good year for Russian nationalists mortality-wise. The NazBol Eduard Limonov died in March, while the natsdem (liberal nationalist) Konstantin Krylov passed away in May. And now, the OG of Russian Neo-Nazism, "Tesak" (lit. "Hatchet", real name: Maxim Martsinkevich), a skinhead of Polish-Russian ancestry who can be said to have invented... Read More
This is a quick addendum to this post about Poland's cultural/electoral geography. Everybody who has spent time in our corner of the Internet is familiar with the basics, in which the territories formerly controlled by Russia and Austria-Hungary vote conservative while the Prussian-controlled areas vote liberal. (With adjustment for liberal tilt in big cities). However,... Read More
"Listva" Bookshop Opens Up in Russian Capital
Black Hundreds CEO Dmitry Bastrakov giving the opening speech. On August 8, 2020 Moscow saw the opening of the bookshop Listva in Moscow. This is their first expansion outside the original Listva bookshop in Saint-Petersburg, where - incidentally - I had been invited to give a lecture on dysgenics last November. There will now be... Night in Novogrudok, Belarus (2017) by Pavel Gamburg. Even though we tend to take it as a given, it isn't exactly obvious why Belarus should be so much more "Russophile" than the Ukraine. The lands of White Russia were "regathered" into the Russian Empire well more than a century after Left-Bank Ukraine (the lands east... Read More
As of today, voting has started on the Putin amendments to the 1993 Russian Constitution, which was imposed on us under tank barrels and sponsored by the US State Department. As a result of the coronavirus, the voting will run from June 25 to July 1, with people being given the chance to vote from... Read More
It was always a longshot. But the Russians who believed that ethnic Russians should have some official status within their putative country persevered. The Russians who believed that Russians, who constitute 85% of Russia's citizens, are not inferior to and do not deserve any less than Jews, who proclaim Israel to be the Jewish State... Read More
In my old post on the WQ, I noted that there are many more women in Russian nationalism than there are in the Alt Right in the US. Anecdotal examples: In my IQ/dysgenics talk in Saint-Petersburg in November 2019 (peak optics), almost a third of the audience were women. Perhaps 20%-25% at the "Russian Meeting"... Read More
Egor Kholmogorov has noted that Constitution of Bashkortostan, where Bashkirs only make up 36% of the population, proudly announces that Bashkortan is for Bashkirs: On looking it up, I found that the preamble of the Constitution of Tatarstan, where Tatars constitute a bare minority at 53%, has similar phrasing: So we have Bashkortostan for the... Tessa Violet is an American singer of modest popularity and talent who kick-started her career by video-blogging and lip syncing songs. Here is her most popular music video to date: This isn't exactly a pop culture blog, so why am I writing about her? Basically her imperial flag-colored hair has made her into a minor... Read More
As I wrote in my post on the Moscow Duma elections, which took place on September 8, the electoral strategy of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) - the main pro-Western opposition front to Putin headed by Navalny and his campaign manager Leonid Volkov - was the so-called "Smart Vote." Claiming that many of their candidates had... Read More
This article is written by Anna Nemtsova, an ex-Soviet Jewess whose main journalistic preoccupation is hating on Russia's "useless bachelors" and trying to convince their women to miscegenate with swarthy lotharios from the Global South instead. Russia
This was a very nice livestream in which JF Gariépy gave my the chance to concisely set out my views on the intersection of Russia, the Alt Right, Russian foreign policy, and the Western media (amongst other things).
Alexander Chalenko. There are many forms of Ukrainian identity. The svidomy believe that the Ukraine is a purely autochthonous entity, whose "Russian" achievements were stolen by Muscovy (Richard Sakwa, more politely, calls them "monists"). There are "pluralists" who believe that they share a common cultural and genetic ancestry with Russia and Belorussia in the medieval... Read More
It seems to be the one *major* country where the more intelligent - on average, and adjusting for the east/west gradient - vote for the "nationalist" candidate, Poroshenko. And just to be clear, he has for all intents and purposes captured the nationalist niche, however unlikely. His slogan: "Army, Language, Faith." Meanwhile, Zelensky talks of... Read More
Moreover, it might well even be closer to what some of us deride as "cuckservatism" in the Euro-American context. At least, this is what Koenraad Elst, a dissident Indology professor, argued back in Nov 2016: The Modi Government as an Exponent of BJP Secularism. I would suggest you read the whole thing - the article... Read More
The title is a bit of an exaggeration. Even back in 2010, there was plenty to criticize Putin for, and since then, the details haven't even changed that much so far as I'm concerned (e.g. corruption, bureaucracy, white elephants). And it's not that I have been unremittingly anti-Putin in the past few years, regardless of... Read More
There are often questions in the comments about Egor Kholmogorov's stance on various things, e.g. about how he reconciles his Orthodox beliefs with Russian ethnonationalism. So I prepared something different from our usual fare of serious longreads - a series of translations of his social media posts, where he briefly but succinctly addresses some of... Read More
This is what the journalist Oleg Kashin said a few days ago in a discussion at Echo of Moscow, one of Russia's premier liberal media outlets. Echo of Moscow journalist Evgenia Albats was not too happy with this: Kashin is of course entirely, objectively right about all this, as conclusively demonstrated by Neo-Nazi white supremacists... Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism. Nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism. By putting our own interests first, with no regard for others, we erase the very thing that a nation holds dearest, and the thing that keeps it alive: its moral values. - Emmanuel Macron (2018). He who does not love his mother... Read More

There's a few theories that I push over and over again when discussions on European social trends come up: Communism was a "deep freezer" that conserved antediluvian ("based" in our lingvo) social attitudes in Eastern Europe, at least relative to countries under the American sphere of influence. These attitudes express themselves particularly strongly on LGBT,... Read More

Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky: Kiev in 1905. I suppose that if superintelligence is developed soon, or the entire world melts together into a post-historical open borders dystopia/utopia, or some existential risk does as all in, then these considerations will become rather irrelevant. However, if the 21st century continues on a more or less "business as usual" path,... Read More
Today I was at the presentation of Alexander Zhuchkovsky's new book 85 Days in Slavyansk [buy]. Almost by necessity, all previous Kholmogorov translations have been those of his older texts, with a “lag” between the original and the translation varying between several days and several months. The latest in our series of translations of Russian national-conservative intellectual Egor Kholmogorov. For the first part, see: Russians in the 2oth Century. Part I: Origins to WWII. Big surprise. /s Lots of boring and repetitive takes out there, so I'll write about something different; maybe this too will be boring, but at least it's probably unique. Yesterday there was another poll on the Russian Presidential elections in 2018, this time from FOM (although state-owned, my impression is that they aren't any less accurate than the independent - and somewhat oppositionist - Levada). The conventional view of nationalism is that it was a product of mass literacy and the modern state, underpinned by schoolbooks and Tombs of the Unknown Soldier. I have already written about the Russian government's blocking of Sputnik i Pogrom, Russia's foremost nationalist resource. Two politicians have taken a clear stance on this. Zhirinovsky was one. François Hollande, widely considered to be a failure with single digit approval ratings, has - unusually for French politics - decided not to run for a second term. So this was pretty bad. About Anatoly Karlin

I am a blogger, thinker, and businessman in the SF Bay Area. I’m originally from Russia, spent many years in Britain, and studied at U.C. Berkeley.

One of my tenets is that ideologies tend to suck. As such, I hesitate about attaching labels to myself. That said, if it’s really necessary, I suppose “liberal-conservative neoreactionary” would be close enough.

Though I consider myself part of the Orthodox Church, my philosophy and spiritual views are more influenced by digital physics, Gnosticism, and Russian cosmism than anything specifically Judeo-Christian.
