This is a good description and analysis of what has been happening around us and which has started a couple of decades ago.

However, the root of the problem lies somewhere else, I believe: partly in the ideology of neoliberalism which has imposed a standard monetary equivalent for just about everything, including especially non tangible things such as friendship, sympathy, love etc.

Everything, and I mean absolutely everything, is now expressed in monetary terms. When everything has a monetary value, everything loses its intrinsic value, which in turn makes people valueless and interchangeable (see Umberto Galimberti, I vizi capitali e i nuovi vizi).

This has led to a structural sense of worthlessness among the vast majority of people. The only way left to them out of this permanent sense of worthlessness is to try to have a fleeting moment of “fame:” by having many followers on social media, by appearing for a few minutes in some cheap TV-show (in which they are enticed to make themselves ridiculous), and other comparable experiences. Or by taking part in some BLM-type demonstration, toppling or destroying a monument. This will certainly give an illusion of empowerment.

To me this explains why so many ugly, despised, miserable people join movements like BLM. They simply lack the education, knowledge and intelligence to realize they are being used by a small group of evil people that want to destroy Civilization and turn us all into slaves.

Another group tried to remove the word. Now there is a group guarding the monument in order to prevent the removal of the word Schande. This is an obvious, demonstrable fact that raises an important question I never hear asked. It’s very common to hear people talk about the impact of this madness on “society.” And, though we find it impossible to disagree, reflection brings hesitations. What is society?

Better yet, what does the word “society” direct us to locate? The word is simply too vague for any understanding of human behavior, which, in the end, is all there is. Though it’s a word that’s constantly used to end discussion on the matter. In other words, it’s a high-level abstraction. And high-level abstractions are used to bracket explanations.

You start with the word society, or racism, sexism, antisemitism, etc. etc. and you end with one of those words, depending on which one you’re talking about, and in between is your explanation.

But what are you talking about? What are any of us talking about when we use those words in general, or the word “society” in particular?

If someone asks, What observable does the word society direct us to look for?, we’re at a loss to respond with anything concrete. But, if we ask, What is subsumed by the word society one obvious answer would be social institutions. And now we’re back to the question I never hear asked.

What is the impact of this madness on our social-institutions? Devastating! Obviously!

The point is, everyone is so bemused, even in awe, of the social destruction of The Hostile Elite, that fail to see that same elite’s obvious incompetence in social maintenance, let alone social construction. That’s why the best they’ll ever manage is a Pyrrhic Victory.

Celibacy was put in place during the middle ages in order to keep Church property from being inherited by family and relatives of priests and bishops. Celibacy was based on purely financial considerations, nothing more. It is interesting to note that Episcopal (Anglican) priests who convert to Catholicism can bring their families with them to the Church while Roman Catholic priests are denied marriage.

It was a grave mistake by the Church to de-legitimize pre-Vatican II principles.

Saving Free Speech from Itself by Thane Rosenbaum is a must read. His research and knowledge regarding specific cases, pivotal times in history, cognitive biases, Talmudic commentary, neurological imprints and human dignity open a conversation that is important to have. What we do, hear and say will be our history.

If I am understanding things correctly, Rosenbaum invokes the Talmud in his arguings against enlightenment values. When respectable academic work looks like this, we’ere living in interesting times.
