CNN Hears About Ferguson and Floyd Effects for First Time

This might be the first mention of the “Ferguson and Floyd Effects” in the national press:

Some academics proposed the Minneapolis Effect as a geographic name to go with the Ferguson Effect, but Minneapolis is famous for a number of things, so the Minneapolis Effect sounds like it might have something to do with Prince or Prairie Home Companion or cold winters in a big city city or whatever. I went with Ferguson and Floyd for the alliteration.

My impression is that CNN’s been positioning itself as a tad less leftist than MSNBC et al for some time now. Critical remarks about Biden, etc.
It was also cnn the other day, on the Erin Burnett show, when a regular talking head named Aisha Something went ghetto on a White man guest, 'I ain't lettin' no White man tell me about anything!,' and Burnett did nothing.
Perhaps cnn was just triangulating, in order to delude people into thinking that it had decided to be more fair, but now, on the eve of the election, it has dropped the mask.
CNN has a great gig. The average moron can think, oh, Fox is the right and MSNBC is the left, so CNN must be the middle so I an righteously get all of my opinions from them. True enough, but maybe Fox is +5/10 right, MSNBC is -10/10 left, and CNN is -9/10 left. CNN unfortunately has accrued a lot of undeserved power to define the Overton window.
This reminds me of the UK. Back when the Liberal Democrats were somewhat of a political force, every MSM outlet just sort of assumed (or propagandized) that they must have been centrists vis-a-vis Labor and the Conservatives and dutifully reported their positions as such. I guess it's possible that they were in between, though they were pretty left too.Replies: @Colin Wright
They’re cut off, in the Green Zone.
As our society supposedly becomes more rational and science-based, shouldn’t this sort of thing grow less possible?
Notice these CNN operatives. Allegedly, they are journalists. You would think, when presented with something they haven't heard of, they would be interested in hearing more, of learning about it. Instead, they bask in their political power; announcing that if they haven't heard of something, it doesn't exist; and it is false. So get your mind right.
Also, wasn’t the Ferguson Effect mainly localized in the Ferguson area, whereas the Floyd Effect was national, even global?
Remember that Orioles game they played in an empty ball park? It was really eerie. You could hear what individual players were saying during the game. Like being at a Little League game.Replies: @Almost Missouri, @usNthem

Is everybody at CNN black now, or is this some kind of black interest show?
Other than at airports, I’ve never seen CNN, but I’m pretty sure there used to be some wypipo there.
Blacks are a significant minority group in America and part of--granted a mistake--the American story. Having some media blacks around, giving their take is to be expected and doesn't offend me. (Unlike some people here, I've gotten along pretty well with a number of blacks during various jobs and have some black friends and neighbors.)
But this idea that we have to be pickled in black and nothing is legitimate, nothing can be discussed or simply *be* without having a plethora of black faces--not the most attractive people and certainly not the most intelligent, insightful or interesting--around is just nuts. It can't be helping ratings. I can not believe a whole lot of other people are not tired of "must have blacks" as well.

Blacks are actually an improvement, as seen in CNN's more critical coverage of Biden.Replies: @Almost Missouri
I live in a town that must still be less than one percent Negro, but the incessant blackity-blackity-black on every form of media really gets on my nerves. Why must I believe that half the people who use Home Depot are black? My gas company? The area they serve must be 95% white -- but you'd never guess it from their literature.
Even if one bought the ideology (which I do not) why always blacks? Where are all the Hispanics? The various flavors of Asian? It's so fucking mindless.

Last-second gambit to help Kamabla? Or just an admission after the FBI-stat-fixing came out, because even city commies are complaining about crime?
“Oh yeah, now we know about how our pro-crime policies increased crime after St. Floyd. Whoops, sorry, who could have predicted this? But now we know better. Vote D, and we’ll make cities safe again, because now we know!”
I think a lot of blacks that ascend to positions dominated by elite whites adopt the same deliberate ignorance about crime and culture that they truly know better about.
Partly it’s signaling but partly it’s probably something of a mental relief to pretend they are not massive outliers for their group.
According to the White Narrative media, whenever the term "the Community" feels this or that way, is upset about something, etc. the "Community" being referenced is the local Black area, which may or may not be all geographically concentrated in a single area. Often is, but that term is reserved for Blacks Only.
Only if the story is already centered on some other group (say, Jews or gays) is the Community about some other bunch.
Blacks in elite media (i.e. House Negroes) often pretend to "speak for the Community" since they are the hired token mouthpieces. Otherwise, they aren't even in the media.
Black elites are not unaware of the dangers of actually living amongst "the community" but are wise enough to choose to live in gated communities or guarded coops or apartments.
In larger older areas there are some above average Black areas which can be pretty expensive. Even there, security is evident, and many Blacks prefer "to live closer to work" , etc.

Some blacks are very happy to end up house n***ers and get away from other blacks and be the “local black guy”. These types tend to enjoy being the exotic black amongst whites/Asians/etc. and not have to deal with all the crime and anti-social behavior do.
For example, Mary Fields, born a slave, moved to Montana and was the only black woman around—and loved it, become a local character so legendary that legendary actor Garry Cooper (also from Montana) wrote an article in Ebony about her life. (yes, really).
https://infogalactic.com/info/Mary_Fields
In China, Japan, and Korea, there is a small smattering of blacks who have moved there to be the exotic local and get some attention. For example, YouTuber Megan Moon is an American black woman (or maybe mulatto, I think she has a white father) who moved there and has achieved minor celebrity due to her looks, and married a local Korean guy. Of course, Moon has engaged in a lot skin lightening/makeup/lighting to de-blacken her skin, but she knows her bread and butter is being a black woman in Korea and doesn’t hide it and even plays it up in many videos, including showing her (much darker) black relatives when they visit.

Remarkable!
It certainly owes to the difference between someone on the narcissist spectrum, against someone on the sociopath spectrum. Neither are ideal, but one eventually trumps the other.
Thats why NBC brass picked Leno over Letterman for the Tonight Show, btw.
Narcissist vs Sociopath.
Socially and politically, the need to be liked will triumph over the need to win, because the former trait will somewhat self-adjust for approval, while the sociopath considers any opposition to be out of adjustment with their righteous agenda, and must be brought to heel on their terms only.
And THAT is why she fails…

Minneapolis has become the locus of the “Kia boyz” phenomena where originally a gang of teenagers in Milwaukee took advantage of a design fault in Kia and Hyundai cars that made it possible to effectively hotwire them with just a screwdriver and an aux cable. The gang spread their exploits in stolen cars on social media and spread the knowledge of how to do this widely.
It seems despite the borderless nature of social media that the closer a city is to Milwaukee the greater the Kia boyz imitation with the Twin cities being particularly badly hit.
Car theft, a crime which had massively declined due to newer cars generally being so much harder to steal without the key skyrocketed in Minneapolis and surrounding areas. You could say the trouble in Milwaukee was influenced by the Floyd effect and then Minneapolis imported the new innovations in juvenile crime inspired by the situation there in the first place.

I remember a video of some blacks violently despoiling some poor white bastard in some Midwest shithole in the aftermath of the 2016 election: poor white bastard had a Trump bumper sticker on his car. So they rear-ended him and attacked when he got out.
One of the looters kept exclaiming, ‘he vote for Trump’ — that apparently being entirely sufficient grounds for violently assaulting poor white bastard, robbing him, and beating him within an inch of his life.
I’d say that’s about average for blacks, intellectually, and I say that advisedly. They get worse.
This, I accept. What irritates me is the way Republicans keep chasing their vote. There just isn’t a palatable explanation for that. Fuck ’em. Why the hell should they even be allowed to vote?
BLM types basically just object to people being treated equally. If they were, a disproportionately large percentage of Blacks would be arrested and put in prison since they are more likely to commit crimes. Crime started going up after 2010 because we started treating people less equally.
Life would also be better for most Whites if equal treatment was applied in other areas beside arrests. With equal treatment, segregation by race would have been replaced with segregation by income. White IQ levels are higher than Blacks, which leads to them being more productive and having higher incomes. They end up living in wealthier and Whiter neighborhoods and are shielded from poor dysfunctional Blacks.
The government has been trying to intervene in this for decades. They put poor Black kids on a bus and sent them to mostly White middle class schools. They built subsidized housing for poor Blacks in middle class areas or directly gave poor Blacks money to live there. They instituted affirmative action, which helped put many Blacks in neighborhoods, colleges and workplaces where they are out of place and don’t belong.

Minneapolis Effect sounds like it might have something to do with Prince or Prairie Home Companion or cold winters in a big city city or whatever
Which reminds me, the other day I heard Delirious on the radio. It was Prince’s third hit single after 1999 and Little Red Corvette, which was how the three songs appeared on the 1999 album. Anyway I had forgotten how catchy Delirious was.
PHC had nothing to do with Minneapolis. It was proudly and resolutely based in St Paul. Its creator grew up in exurban Anoka, and the setting mirrored some of the small towns just beyond that.
The one time I heard the city mentioned, the local auto dealer was forced to drive a modest vehicle of his own, lest his customers get the idea they’d paid a bit too much for theirs. Whereas a farmer could drive as flashy a set of wheels as he could afford, as “that money came from Minneapolis”.
I had the TV news on in the background, while doing something or other a few days ago, wasn’t paying much attention, and the news guy attributed something to “the George Floyd Effect.” I thought, “oh, I know what that is from reading my isteve…” and carried on.
Only later it hit me! “Hey! That’s a controversial term directly and only from isteve, being used in the major media by a commentator without attribution!! AND it’s was used as if the commentator took for granted that the viewer knew what he meant!”
Unfortunately, I can’t remember what news channel was on at the time. Seemed like it was either CNN or Fox. Maybe some other one.
But I definitely heard it used on a major news channel. Genuinely a WTF moment for me, albeit delayed.

It can’t be helping ratings. I can not believe a whole lot of other people are not tired of “must have blacks” as well.
Yet it rolls on and on and on. The people doing this have an agenda and it is not “ratings” or “profit” or “conveying the truth to the public”.
That debate is over and has been rolled back; Talented Tenth blacks understand that if they can read, write and speak Standard American English, they have guaranteed lifetime employment with excellent wages and benefits and preferential treatment for promotions.
Americans are constantly being shown a "balanced" set of individuals in every news broadcast, in every television show, where "balanced" means a preponderance of persons of color and just a few appreciative whites. Now, we expect to see the same thing in real life, in stores and hospitals and companies. This is preparation for 22nd century America, which will have a billion people in the real estate now called the United States.
Once, we expected to see competence if not excellence. But excellence takes a lifetime of work and is hard to maintain; it's much easier to just hire according to a racial mix formula. It's also makes mass immigration easier to do and easier to accept.Replies: @YetAnotherAnon, @rebel yell
Same shit, different day.
We have a verbalist elite–not just their black pets, though they are particularly bad–who are averse to empirical data, logic and basic math. Their mental universe is basically religious–feels and assertions of faith.
There is really no point in even having an argument with these people. Waving 30,000 incremental homicides in front of these people and pointing out “this is the actual on the ground result of your policy” … does nothing.
Crime, education, welfare, fertility, genetics and of course immigration … same story. Absolute insanity. But empirical reality, logic, math account for nothing, do not make a dent. They have faith.
I see no alternative but the obvious–get the hell away from them.
Why is one named after the town and the other named after the person?
In any case, the effects are the result of media slant, and given who runs the media, all these should be called the Manhattan Mandate as the Narrative flows out from there and spreads across the entire country.
The Brown Effect is a little too on the nose.

This used to be expected of TV news personalities – that they would not be partisans of any candidate or party. At least not overtly. FOX News acts as, for the most part, the mouthpiece of the Republican Party. They at least are tacitly honest about it. The other networks, all of them completely in the tank for the Democratic Party, pretend otherwise. It is somewhat remarkable that Baier bothers to maintain that neutrality.

To hear one’s coinage in meatspace is satisfaction most choice. Every time I hear or read ‘facediaper’, I experience the keenest satisfaction. Whenever I read ‘shitlib’, I smile – as I coined it ‘pon Heartiste’s erstwhile blog long long ago.
Whyst “naive” to enjoy recognition of one’s genius? Mayhap thou’st never felt such pleasure.
Perhaps "thou'st" is insufficient in thine own reading comprehension to understand what I was saying.
As far as ego enjoyment goes, I long ago experienced strangers coming up to me and quoting things I said on local television. I know, that's not great, but when a cute girl in a club does it, albeit drunk, 'tis better than seeing one's paltry gimmick-phrase quoted by other nerds.

I could imagine that in the very moment selection for IQ for Embryos becomes widespread and racial differences can be balanced out in this way, these differences will be acknowleged in the general public.
Well atm, they don't think the IQ gains are very high, although six points is not to be sniffed at:

But there's also the factor that doing it this way involves iirc fertility drugs, a small operation to remove eggs, and Daddy ejaculating into a lab jar rather than a warm female. So whether couples will go for bottled rather than draught ale is still to be decided.
One possibility, which I'm not sure I would welcome, is that ambitious couples might go for only one or two designer babies, given the costs of housing and childcare nowadays. So, ironically, advances in genetic screening will likely increase racial inequality rather than decrease it. And that is even before considering whether blacks will regard new selection technologies as the White Devils' Tricknology and resist using it.

16 doctorates, eh? What exactly was his achievement — could write his name with the same spelling four times in a row, author of no less than nine intelligible sentences, fewer than 5 felonies on his record, raped less than a dozen white girls? Give that fellow a Ta-MacArthur while we’re at it!
CNN is a tad less leftist than MSNBC. But CNN is far-leftist; perhaps no less Trump-deranged than MSNBC. Mao was a tad less leftist than Pol Pot.
I guess it’s possible that they were in between, though they were pretty left too.
On the topic of CNN
Trump had fun at the Al Smith Dinner.

But this idea that we have to be pickled in black and nothing is legitimate, nothing can be discussed or simply *be* without having a plethora of black faces--not the most attractive people and certainly not the most intelligent, insightful or interesting--around is just nuts. Gets one to wonder if economics really works as advertised, or the general assumption in the social sciences that we are biased toward working toward a greater good. For all the blathering about maximizing profits; maximizing utility; etc., there is plenty of evidence that we are ruled by profoundly non-economic decisions.

Probably not true at all.
Poor blacks spend a lot of time in waiting rooms with TVs. It’s logical for daytime TV to cater to them. Finally some wag at 4chan figured out what that nonsense about white people not seasoning their food was: the only time these people get served food by white people is in prison, and in prison seasoning food is not a priority.
However, poor blacks, being poor, have a lot less disposable income to spend on certain kinds of nonsense (and will spend their dosh on other kinds of nonsense whether they have the $$ or not).
To find out who is really the target audience, check what the commercials are about. If they're all for Burger King, or unattainable high-status things featuring Rich Black Guy and Blonde GF, then the bruthas are watching. But if it's all pharmaceuticals and weird household stuff like water filters and leaf-gutter services, then it's all old white people. And if the commercials and news desks are still chock full of bruthas with blonde gf's, then you know that malevolent forces are deliberately at work. And once you recall just who owns the networks and the ad agencies, the math is pretty simple.
Remember the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, of Chicago's Trinity United Church, whose angry sermons nearly derailed the 2008 presidential campaign of his former parishioner? After retiring in the middle of that campaign, he moved into a 10,000 square foot house in nearly all-white Tinley Park, a suburb south of Chicago; the house, valued at $1.6 million in 2008, was a gift from his grateful flock. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/local-elections/1924323/Rev-Jeremiah-Wright-to-retire-in-white-suburb.html
And where does the Rev. Al Sharpton hang his hat? Not on the mean streets of Brooklyn. No, like George and Louise Jefferson before him, the conflagrationist-turned-NYC-power-broker moved on up... to the (Upper) East Side...to a deluxe apartment in the sky. He rents a three-bedroom condo for an estimated $14,000 per month; his landlord bought the apartment in 2019 for $2.1 million. https://nypost.com/2020/12/12/rev-al-sharpton-seen-maskless-around-new-luxury-nyc-building/

Leftist politicians in general don’t live their narrative, often caught with mostly White staffs; living in various bubbles; personally conservative. Blacks are actually an improvement, as seen in CNN’s more critical coverage of Biden.
We have a verbalist elite--not just their black pets, though they are particularly bad--who are averse to empirical data, logic and basic math. Their mental universe is basically religious--feels and assertions of faith.
There is really no point in even having an argument with these people. Waving 30,000 incremental homicides in front of these people and pointing out "this is the actual on the ground result of your policy" ... does nothing.
Crime, education, welfare, fertility, genetics and of course immigration ... same story. Absolute insanity. But empirical reality, logic, math account for nothing, do not make a dent. They have faith.

Black culture is being used as a bludgeon to destroy traditional American values, as long as it keeps working they’ll keep pushing it. But it’s actually kind of funny; you may recall that thirty years ago there was a tremendous to-do about Ebonics and whether or not blacks could speak their “own” language.
That debate is over and has been rolled back; Talented Tenth blacks understand that if they can read, write and speak Standard American English, they have guaranteed lifetime employment with excellent wages and benefits and preferential treatment for promotions.
Americans are constantly being shown a “balanced” set of individuals in every news broadcast, in every television show, where “balanced” means a preponderance of persons of color and just a few appreciative whites. This is preparation for 22nd century America, which will have a billion people in the real estate now called the United States.
Once, we expected to see competence if not excellence. But excellence takes a lifetime of work and is hard to maintain; it’s much easier to just hire according to a racial mix formula. It’s also makes mass immigration easier to do and easier to accept.

This fall, I was driving around in Minneapolis looking for a restaurant, and happened to drive through the intersection where George Floyd died.
It looks like a little corner of the Third World. The intersection is marked with primitive six foot tall Black Power Fist statues and is covered with trash and graffiti. The burned-out structures are preserved, pointedly not replaced with useful stores, gas stations, etc.
Meanwhile, white Minnesotans continue their traditions of Minnesota Nice. They express their hope that Tim Walz will shut up about how wonderful it is, so that Minneapolis will not be inundated with outsiders. Meaning white Republicans, one assumes.
Prosperous young people live in new apartment buildings with excellent security arrangements; gated and guarded indoor parking, nicely appointed lobbies with 24 hour security on site. You know; just like you grew up with.

It’s a big reason I don’t watch TV. I’ve got young kids. Each one will get The Talk.
My father watches both CNN and MSNBC religiously and is thoroughly brainwashed by those traitorous Deep State, election-stealing organs. During the Trump years and the first 2 years of the Biden coup regime it was hard for me to determine which channel he was watching unless I looked at the chryon on the screen, because they were both spewing out the same Deep State propaganda garbage.
Over the last 2 years, however, there has been a slight attempt by the traitors at CNN to regain some credibility by once again having a “token Trump defender” on during round table/talking heads segments for the host and the rest of the panel to gang up on. Note I said “token Trump defender” and not “token Republican”, since they tried that with loser Adam Kinzinger and the like for a while but they were all just never-Trumpers and no one was fooled.
Anyway, even lefty propagandist and traitor Bill Maher (who works for the same company as CNN, Time Warner) thinks its transparent and intellectually dishonest by CNN, since the lone Trump defender not only is outnumbered but gets talked over and steamrolled. (Fox has their token D defenders but the round tables/talking heads segments are more polite to them–Juan Williams and Geraldo Riveira get to have their say). Maher says he thinks MSNBC is more intellectually honest since they don’t even pretend to be fake-balanced with such an act.
When MSNBC went hard-left during the Keith Olbermann years thanks to Phil Griffin, CNN used it to triangulate a position as “centrist” even though its not. It worked for a bit but TDS and the Deep State coups on Trump caused CNN to shed that image.

‘Suffs is the menopausal feminist hipster term for suffragettes, those 19th and early 20th century gals that annoyed men enough to “get the vote.”
Well, they got it and we got la Clinton and now, Giggles.
This play was originally opened Off Broadway but with Hilary’s backing (and others) moved to the Great White Way (racist!) last spring.

I’m not sure if it was a musical (probably not) but anything on Broadway is expensive to produce and maintain. I checked on this in early summer and tickets were expensive but it was selling fairly well.
I guess the market for self congratulatory Hillaryism was limited, even in Commie NYC and suburbs. Only so many TikTok daughters want to be dragged by Mama to something like this.

I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the subtle digs at Kumswalla that have been emanating lately from mainstream Demos like Clinton may be orchestrated by Auntie Nan. She, and probably more than a few Demos would probably prefer 4 years of Trump (who they neutered before and can do so again, particularly as he frequently goes out of his way to help them), after which the Dem field will be cleared for Gavin. Anyway, the next 4 years are likely to be fairly turbulent (in the unpleasant sense of the word) for a lot of people, and Trump might as well take the blame when the debt bomb explodes. They’re alluding to it, even if they don’t mention it explicitly. This is from NBC:
The glowingly upbeat article was no doubt written in response to the UPWARD revision in FBI crime stats, though the BBC volleys back about how that has to do with how one cherry-picks the data:
It turns out it’s those MAGA people who are getting nostalgic about 2020 — now they want us to believe that those lockdowns really were the good old days. Good to know.
One ironic upside is whatever that thing meant as a memorial is in the center of the intersection, it turned it into a de facto roundabout. The city needs more of those. You can barely drive a quarter mile without hitting a stoplight. It’s like they’re timed to annoy you.

It was the death of Floyd and the Democrats pushing de-policing that led to higher crime rates, with the Covid lockdowns having little effect.
That de-policing movement, resulting in higher crime, may help Trump win. The Covid lockdowns may also help him win. The federal government printed up and passed out a lot of money so people could stay home and to try to offset the negative effects on the economy of the lockdowns. This led to inflation and rising prices which has left many people struggling to make ends meet and ready to vote for a change.

Not so fast. That assumes that the different races’ genomes are equally amenable to improvement through selection. It seems far more likely that different races have different potential for improvement, and that if anything, Asians and whites will be able to get more IQ increase from embryo selection than blacks can.
So, ironically, advances in genetic screening will likely increase racial inequality rather than decrease it. And that is even before considering whether blacks will regard new selection technologies as the White Devils’ Tricknology and resist using it.

This must be an upper Midwest thing. I’m no fan of the congested traffic in the Northeast, but visiting the upper Midwest, I keep finding myself waiting at intersection stoplights where no crosstraffic is being served by my wait at the light. Northeastern traffic sucks, but at least the traffic signals seem optimized to maximized traffic flow. In the upper Midwest (UMW), the traffic signals often seem calibrated to maximize inconvenience.
In certain parts of the upper Midwest I learned that the rational driving strategy is to
breakbend traffic laws so as not to get harnessed into the cycle of empty red lights. Fortunately the Floyd Effect (see? on topic!) means fewer police cruisers and apparently no one monitors traffic cameras anymore.Absolutely correct. Well atm, they don't think the IQ gains are very high, although six points is not to be sniffed at:
The company appears to have suggested that couples who use their service might expect to have a child who is, on average, six IQ points smarter than the child they would have had through natural conception. This is significantly higher than the 2.5 IQ point expected gain estimated in a 2019 study, that considered this hypothetical scenario."
Also perhaps some Elon Must types offering bright undergrad girls the chance to produce a class of intellectual superbeings.Replies: @Reg Cæsar

However, poor blacks, being poor, have a lot less disposable income to spend on certain kinds of nonsense (and will spend their dosh on other kinds of nonsense whether they have the $$ or not).
To find out who is really the target audience, check what the commercials are about. If they’re all for Burger King, or unattainable high-status things featuring Rich Black Guy and Blonde GF, then the bruthas are watching. But if it’s all pharmaceuticals and weird household stuff like water filters and leaf-gutter services, then it’s all old white people. And if the commercials and news desks are still chock full of bruthas with blonde gf’s, then you know that malevolent forces are deliberately at work. And once you recall just who owns the networks and the ad agencies, the math is pretty simple.
What we’re seeing is people who hate white people, in order to hate white people they had to never give white people the credit for the society they built, they literally thought that people were interchangeable, collide with reality. Hopefully they come to appreciate what they had.

Ferguson, Freddie Gray, Floyd… just steps towards the final collapse of the Nation. The thing about each one of these incidents is they were blown out of proportion by the national news media; it truly showed the power of a coordinated media narrative. How many black people have been killed by police across the Nation in the years since? Hundreds? In a community as dysfunctional as the blacks, there’s always going to be an abundance of police encounters, some invariably leading to a death. There’s a never ending supply of these police encounters gone wrong that the news media can cherry pick from and dial up racial tensions to 10 whenever they want. With a Trump presidency, expect them to start up with the weekly police brutality stories again.

Dunno. Given the One Drop Rule it seems to me that almost all mixed-race people who are partly black will keep identifying as black. My reasoned guess is that most people who identify as mixed are mixed white+Hispanic or white+Asian.
The last time I'm aware that the Census Bureau published a breakout of mixed race Americans, it said 30.4% were black mixes and 29.4% were Asian mixes. The CB did not give regional breakouts, but probably Asian mixes predominate in the West coast and black mixes predominate in places like Baltimore.
So, yes, I'm probably overstating things by throwing all 3.6 percentage points of mixed Baltimoreans into the black category, but I wanted to see what the maximal case was. But even in the minimal case where none the mixes are black, Baltimore's white population still diminished more than the black.Replies: @epebble

And Baltimore’s total population is decreasing while the “mixed” population is increasing vertiginously, so it is unlikely most of these people are new arrivals, but rather people who previously identified as something else. As Steve has shown, most American blacks are in fact mixed (though still mostly black), while most whites are not mixed. So it is likely the “mixed” category in Baltimore is mostly people who would formerly have been categorized as “black”.
The Census Bureau doesn’t consider Hispanic to be a race, so we can confidently say that 0% of people who identify as mixed are anything+Hispanic.
The last time I’m aware that the Census Bureau published a breakout of mixed race Americans, it said 30.4% were black mixes and 29.4% were Asian mixes. The CB did not give regional breakouts, but probably Asian mixes predominate in the West coast and black mixes predominate in places like Baltimore.
So, yes, I’m probably overstating things by throwing all 3.6 percentage points of mixed Baltimoreans into the black category, but I wanted to see what the maximal case was. But even in the minimal case where none the mixes are black, Baltimore’s white population still diminished more than the black.
I think that logic may be flawed. If I get to check the box, I may choose to check 'mixed' if I am Hispanic + White. Census Bureau can't do anything about it other than count it. Census Bureau is a computer; it has no audit function.Replies: @Almost Missouri

Jean Botham was a good guy.
The shooter, police office Amber Guyger, is pitiable. A fairly pretty young woman, she was out of her depth playing at being a cop. Pictures of her at trial crying, and later prison pictures showing her in deep depression, show a woman who had no business being a cop. (Not saying she shouldn't be in prison, since after all if you do the crime you have to do the time.)
Another aspect of this is the responsibility of black crime in general in causing this particular shooting. She saw a black male in what she thought was a burglary in her apartment. Is it reasonable for citizens to over-react to black males? Unfortunately, yes, overreaction is reasonable. In a war zone you shoot quicker than you do in a peaceful setting. With these options, the most natural option for anyone who wants to acknowledge their Hispanic heritage is to select ‘Other’ or ‘Mix of above’ and Hispanic ethnicity. If they are, say, 7/8th (or more) (non-Hispanic) White or Black etc., some of them may ignore the smaller fraction and select the dominant heritage (for race) and may (or may not) ignore Hispanic ethnicity.
If you look at the Census Bureau breakout of the "mixed race" people, though, hardly anyone chooses the "other" category. The most common minority category chosen is "black". Most Hispanic ethnics end up in the "white" racial category.

They are, however, up front about the importance of rehabilitation:
“Returning citizens”– i.e., felons– have a right to vote which must be protected. But apparently not a right to protect themselves, equally to be protected. Which I think might be of greater importance to someone who has made enemies on his way to the hoosegow.
Returning felons should only get to vote after they qualify for concealed carry.

No; There are differences:
1. Trump has made illegal immigration the central plank of his political identity. He has to do something about it if he wants to keep MAGA alive and leave some legacy.
2. He is likely to end Ukraine war. Quickly. Once the U.S. funding/weapons/support ends, the war will be over. With that comes goodwill with Putin and Russia that will lower international temperature.
3. No body can predict 'war with Iran'; So, this is speculative and unlikely. Iranians seem mainly interested in asymmetric war, not direct conflict with U.S. BTW, if Trump pulls back from Middle East after Israel's wars, things may get calmer.
4. About legal immigration: It is for Congress to Act. Neither he nor Harris can do much singlehandedly. And right now, political support is not there for either reforming or reducing legal immigration since the government is too divided and there is not enough trust for any meaningful legislation of any consequence.

I can’t imagine any Jewish major party candidate getting traction as long as Michigan is in play and I’m told the Arab vote will kill any outright AIPAC type. In essence, an otherwise loyal D constituency in a swing state suppresses the potential D vote just by choosing to go with the third party candidate.
Thanks for the confirmation of the sociopathic behavior.
I don’t think Michigan is “in play” from Dearborn and Hamtramck, even in Michigan there just aren’t that many Arabs; I think Democrats are massively underperforming, to the point of objective undeniability, and the Democrat damage control is that it’s the fault of the friends of Palestine, when it’s actually everybody, and mostly about the economy. I see plenty of Trump signs in my once solidly red, then solidly blue decaying suburb north of Detroit, but, not only do the Trump signs outnumber the [Democrat] signs (at first, one brave soul put blue painter’s tape over the “Biden:” now of course they have proper “Kămălā Hærrıs” signs) but one beautiful corner garden in particular, I adore for its Trump signs, because I remember when that same person had a Hillary sign.
