I think you can think of immunity (both natural and vaccine-induced) as like a series of filters (or cookie cutters) the virus has to pass through; it’s certainly possible it can evolve a form that can pass through all the filters, but that same form is less and less likely to be one that races around the world turning people into chopped liver.

I understand Cochran’s point about evolution not necessarily disfavoring virulence but that’s in the absence of drugs/vaccines/human immunity doing the selection.

Here it is…Grandfather dies a natural death but it’s labelled Covid…crazy mother then Faints (my mom used to faint all the time) because of lack of Oxygen….Young Son whose too attached to Mom and just had bad breakup then joins the club. Father didn’t get ill. Probably too masculine and emotionally stable.

That’s my theory, and a psychosomatic illness fits all other cases of Covid I am aware of. Furthermore, a bad flu/pneumonia being treated with intubation and killing people fits the Death Tallies.

My understanding is that vaccines will select for stronger strains. Therefore as more and more people get innoculated against the regular strain it’s normal for evasive strains to pop up. This was expected all along. You have to choose between vaccinating only the group risk and minimize the pressure for new strains or vaccinate everybody and come up with new vaccines. Analogy: farmers also need to come up with new pesticides as new strains of bugs evade the old pesticides.

1. All the vaccines, gene mods or traditional (conjugate, deactivated virus) will only provide transient protection for 3-4 months against the specific strain they use as their base. This protection decreases over time and is less robust than that of the natural immune response.
2. Many of the “variants” are simply endemic coronaviruses (common colds) being identified and given names for the first time. What you’re seeing now is just an overreaction to the seasonal cold and flu that happens every year.
3. Death rates are primarily driven by intubations with positive pressure ventilators, not the virus itself.
4. The best thing you can do to protect yourself is not be overweight and not be above the age of 70.
5. If is morally wrong to hold the world hostage over a disease with a 99.8% survival rate.
The driver of the “pandemic” is politics and a desire for those in power to centralize their authority. It ends the moment people stop paying attention.

Further, by the time any “booster” is designed and approved for a “new strain/variant” it will already be out of circulation in the populace. We lived with the common cold BEFORE January 2020, we can live with it again.

I am not opposed to the vaccine and took it myself, despite getting COVID between the 2 doses. It ws a bad cold. I have hypertension and could afford to lose a few pounds, but I have always been active; walking, biking and working out. At a loss why the fear coming out of DC is the message, rather than encouraging healthy behaviors like exercise and diet as well as the benefits of being outside and vitamin D. We KNOW if you are physically active, even marginally, mortality drops to close to zero. Elderly people should be gettting outside and moving as much as they can, and that is not the message. Rather, stay inside, which looks to be the worst thing you could do,

I have a son who had it, and has not been vaccinated. He was a college football player, and works out and bikes all the time. He believes he has antibodies, and based on the 1918 influenza,we know antibodies from such viruses typically lasted a very long time. This is probably no different. Further, there is no data, anywhere, from any medical authority, about how the vaccine may impact fertility. Frankly find it disgusting such questions are neither being explored nor even asked.

Well MERS (Middle East Respiratory Corona Virus) had an estimated case fatality rate of approximately 30% for those who became clinically ill.

So it is not really a stretch to imagine a much more virulent Covid variant to emerge.

I do think concern is warranted, particularly as we still do not know where this virus originated.

Long COVID will be a significant problem among people who had the virus.

Perhaps the concept of “herd immunity” is mistaken? Millions of people have the common cold (caused by coronaviruses) every winter, and we have not developed “herd immunity”. This is an article from 2017 (pre-Covid) about the rapid changes in coronaviruses:

There was an article on CNBC the other day stating that the Pfizer vaccine is now only 39% effective. That’s interesting; we went from the 95% mic drop the day after the election and now we’re down to 39%. I wonder if we’re converging towards a point when scientists will be forced to openly admit that these mRNA vaccines don’t work at all, that millions of people were cajoled into taking an experimental gene therapy with unknown side effects, as a result of which many thousands developed complications and died, and for which the drug companies have complete legal immunity, all over a middling coronavirus with a total case fatality rate of 0.26%.

But what if the vaccines are only moderately effective against new variants and the virus keeps evolving so that prior infections don’t offer much protection?

This isn’t the way it works. Viruses do not “evolve.” First of all, Darwinian evolution does not occur at all, as I have amply demonstrated before. But even on the theory that it did occur, it wouldn’t apply to viruses because viruses are not alive in the first place. Viruses are everywhere and always the manufactured products of living cells and they have no agency of their own. Consequently, they cannot get more lethal. What you are afraid of is something that has never happened in all of known history.

Death figures from COVID are currently at less than 4.2 million. ( World population about 7.8bn ) This relies on a considerable amount of creative accounting, such as counting all deaths with COVID present as having been caused by COVID, and other nefarious practices.

Hong Kong Flu (1968-70), World Pop 3.55bn, caused 1 to 4 million deaths. Take an average of 2.5million and factor in the population increase, and you get 5.5million deaths at 2021 values. No special measures were taken for that occurrence.

The last real pandemic, Spanish Flu ( 1918-20), World Pop about 1.9bn, caused between 17 and 50million deaths, even 100 million, some claim. Nearly all estimates are between 20 and 30 million. At 2021 values, that would be between 82 and 123 million deaths.

Ceteris paribus, COVID is not even as virulent as Hong Kong Flu. It is certainly a hazard, but a minor one. Like flu, the overwhelming majority of those dying are over 75 or have underlying health problems. The measures taken by governments around the world to deal with it have been grossly disproportionate, draconian, grotesque and unnecessary.

Dr. John Campbell said that the 3 week spacing of the vaccine is not as effective as a longer spacing between the two doses. We’ll get it figured out at some point. But keep in mind once you’ve been vaccinated it’s unlikely you’ll get sick enough to need to go to the hospital. Those who have been vaccinated who get Covid mostly get nothing more than common cold symptoms or are asymptomatic.

If you get sick, there’s always Ivermectin.

Eventually, everyone will either have had the vaccine or will have had Covid and acquired some natural immunity. That will slow the pandemic down dramatically.

Once again Eastern Europe is having a slow start for the next wave and once again the magnitudes lower amounts of travel from abroad into those countries is the obvious reason. (Having escaped the first wave relatively unscathed a lot of Eastern European countries like Hungary had a terrible wave in the latter half of 2020 from people going on summer trips abroad.)

A problem with restricting travel is that there are now immigrant diasporas who have funerals, families etc to visit and are acting as agents to bring in things like the Delta variant into Australia, for example, which would otherwise be in a prime place to operate normally due to their isolation. Indeed, Australia has operated normally through most of this because of that. Ditto for New Zealand.

Why the UK and Irish governments were so mired by neoliberal ideology that they couldn’t make the simple observation on cost benefit for just being extremely harsh with restricting travel into and out of their island territories is the final example needed of the fundamental illegitimacy of modern governance. If they had covid would be over for them by now as it was after the first wave of lockdowns ended the pandemic almost completely in Ireland and almost in Britain before opening up for citizens to travel abroad again and the rise of the ‘Spanish variant’. And now we see the countries with the largest Indian diasporas being the ones with the fastest introduction of the ‘Delta variant’.

It’s like the debate about PREP in gay communities. We have a means of near 100% effectiveness of preventing HIV transmission. It’s called a condom. It also has the benefit of preventing many other STDs. We have a means of ending covid outbreaks, it’s called a travel moratorium and a short harsh lockdown. Look at New Zealand.

We’ve been assuming that we will get to herd immunity one way or another: either the easy way (vaccination) or the hard way (infection).

It doesn’t even have to apply to fully vaccinated people either, maybe people with only one shot are assuming they live in a world where they optimistically assume everyone else is immune and they’re kinda immune.

Plus with so many vaccinated the virus can also spread easier with fewer and fewer people exhibiting symptoms.

How big a problem that is depends on if infection with the virus has long term consequences like many viruses without physical symptoms are being found to be in terms of causing diseases or triggering them.

There is at least some evidence that early treatment can lower fatality rates. The use of HCQ and Ivermectin lowered fatality rates when used in India against the Delta variant. Ivermectin was also used in Indonesia with good success. In Tanzania, HCQ is used regularly to prevent malaria and they have only had 500 deaths from Covid.

Influenced by Big Pharma and their desire to get rich from vaccines, U.S. government health officials discouraged the use of these early treatments. If they were shown here to be effective, that would lessen the need for vaccines so their widespread use needed to be blocked. In some states, mostly run by Democrats, doctors were threatened with jail if they wrote out a prescription for HCQ.

I was sick with Covid for a week and a half before I entered a hospital. I had plenty of time for early treatment. I’ve read reports on the internet, though, of sick people visiting doctors and told to come back when the disease gets worse and that may have happened to me. There are organizations that I found out about after my illness that will help you find a doctor who is interested in early treatment methods that will help keep you out of the hospital. If you get a mild case you will then have natural immunity. I am not adamantly against vaccines. For high risk people over the age of 60 they may be helpful. We should also be looking at alternatives, though, because some of these may help in the fight against this disease.

I do know a 95 year old liberal gay folk singer who is HIV, Herpes and Hepatitis positive. It totally makes sense we should destroy the lives of hundreds of millions of White people to protect these precious people who did so much for us.

Herd immunity for a corona virus is impossible. All innate immunity from catching a corona virus is short lived. And so right from the beginning, the strategy has been totally wrong.

And since then we have only gone downhill. Mass vaccination during a live pandemic leads inevitably to antigenic shifts (new variants). Unvaxxed people’s innate immunity can deal with these if the viral loads are manageable. Vaxxed adapted immunity eventually cannot, the adapted antibodies ineffectively attach to the virus spikes, blocking the vaxxed innate immune system.

The jury is still out on whether the vaccines are lowering hospitalisations and deaths. In the US, they are attributing delta’s lower virulence–lower hospitalisations and deaths–to the vaccines. The only way to prove the vaccines are working is to show a difference between vaxxed and unvaxxed outcomes. In the Israeli numbers–albeit a small number–I am not seeing any such difference.

It is likely that the vaccines do give some short term protection. But this can be more dangerous than helpful. There is rising, but as yet inconclusive, evidence that an infected vaxxed person needs to get sicker, to have a lower Ct (higher viral load) before they suffer symptoms. In the unvaxxed you would normal get symptoms as Ct approaches 30. In the vaxxed they could be getting below 25 before they get symptoms. These means they are trailing huge viral loads for days before they realize it. This means they have a much higher viral load when they finally seek medical care. This means, as the vaccines wane they will have worse outcomes than the unvaxxed. But this also means that the young and unvaxxed should keep far away from vaxxed potential super spreaders. Right now the vaxxed are setting an excellent precedent in demanding safe spaces from the dirty unvaxxed. The unvaxxed should encourage this. The tables will soon turn though as science proves who the real danger is coming from.

Once you go vaxxed, can you ever go back? The real question is whether natural immunity is any longer possible for the vaxxed? Once on the vax train, can you jump off without seriously downgrading your immune system. Are the vaxxed, and I mean all of the vaxxed, now condemned to a life of biannual booster shots? Can the vaxxed ever simply walk away from the boosters and try to rejoin the ranks of the unvaxxed? Will their immune systems ever be reset to a pre-vaxxed condition?

If this is not possible it means the vaxxed may have uploaded their immune systems to the Big Pharma cloud. They could be dependent on a lifetime of boosters, each with its own side effects. Whenever you see people like David Frum pushing vaccines, any of us who have been trained in pattern recognition by Steve Sailer should run as far and fast away as possible.

The data from Israel suggests that the vaccine doesn’t prevent transmission of the virus, and that the main benefit of the vaccine is to reduce (but not completely prevent) severe illness and death.

This new data, if true, ought to support the argument that children need NOT be vaccinated.

The only rationale to vaccinate children was based on the notion of stopping mild and asymptomatic transmission to “dry up the reservoir of disease” in the population. If the only benefit of vaccination is to prevent severe illness (which is extremely rare in pediatric cases anyway) and not to prevent transmission, then the rationale to vaccinate children disappears.

There is also the question of how accurate the tests are. Pro golfer Jon Rahm was forced to withdraw from The Memorial in early June after a positive test while leading by six shots before the final round. He had one shot of the vaccine at the time. He went through with the second shot and has now tested positive again at the Olympics and been forced to withdraw. Based on what we have been told this should be impossible.

You’ve got to untangle the tests from the cases from the deaths.

While anecdotal accounts of breakthrough infections can make such cases feel widespread, the real numbers have remained small and were generally in line with expectations, experts said.

“There’s no such thing as a perfect vaccine . . . with Covid it’s no different,” said Professor William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University.

Anthony Masters, a member of the UK’s Royal Statistical Society, said fully vaccinated people were likely to make up a “bigger proportion” of cases as vaccine coverage was extended, particularly in younger groups who face a higher exposure risk because of greater social mixing.

“If you get extremely high coverage across the different ages, it’s plausible that cases could become [in] majority among fully vaccinated people,” he said. About 55 per cent of the UK population had received both doses by July 21.

In Israel, where nearly 60 per cent of the population are fully vaccinated and coverage is spread more evenly across age cohorts, 52 per cent of about 6,000 people who tested positive in the week to July 21 were fully vaccinated.

Very few fully vaccinated people who test positive for Covid-19 are getting seriously ill. According to PHE’s real-world studies, the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine is still 96 per cent effective against hospital admission, while the Oxford/AstraZeneca shot is 92 per cent effective.

But Natalie Dean, a biostatistics professor at Emory University in Atlanta, stressed that these figures were averages and that efficacy depended on people’s existing risk profiles. “Everything is relative when it comes to vaccines and risk,” she said.

This is a scenario with more negative than positive possibilities.

The first is that the virus like everything else has become politicized in our divided society.

What are the historical precedents for a divided society taking effective collective measures against an epidemic?

The record of humanity isn’t very good on this. Epidemics make things worse in divided societies seems to be the usual case

So that is a full stop right there, yes things will get worse before they get better. It is the secular trend.

But drilling in anyhow nor reasons for preparedness about the future.

This is both a novel disease with novel vaccine technology, the mRNA stuff. So unknown unknowns abound and for medical stuff on average that is negative.

What are the long term effects of either. Nobody knows because there is no history.

One thing to expect is a fall resurgence and how that works with large masses of vaccinated people and an evolving virus.

There are some ugly scenarios suggested by earlier research into SARS et al the nightmare scenario is antibody dependent enhancement (ADE).

Other bad outcomes are seemingly possible by other credible research.

But will they happen? Nobody can predict that. So you have to go by probabilities.

My probabilities at the moment

100%. The situation will get worse before better whether from the biological effects of the virus or its societally disruptive ones.

75% The virus and or vaccine will have unforeseen long term consequences. I’m probably sandbagging because this one is a gimme.

How could both a novel virus and a novel vaccine technology not have issues. Maybe one or the other but both are perfectly benign?

After this it is just a descending scale of possibilities with increasing severity.

Now consider this. Our society has proven quite fragile to a virus with a lowish mortality rate (on initial unfection, that’s all the data now) so if it turns out the on the ground health crisis worsens our society will be even more unable to respond effectively to an even larger threat.

This is a feedback loop and is generally why things will get worse for a while.

At the bottom of the risk profiles is full on
catastrophe, zombie apocalypse.

I’m loathe to put odds on this, but it is certainly closer than at any time since the end of the Cold War.

So you have to be realistic about things. The world has enjoyed La Belle Epoque II the past thirty years and the wheels are coming off.

But don’t live in fear. It’s like being a sailor, if you have indication of rough weather take reasonable precautions.

If it hadn’t been the virus it would have been something else.

It is difficult to know what to believe. Is this really a disease in which many people can be infected and yet have no symptoms whatsoever and pass it on to other people?

Or is there just a lot of lousy information compounded with people lying through their teeth?

The poor woman who was murdered in London by the rogue policeman was taking a 40 minutes walk home from her boyfriend’s house–but this was during lockdown when she should not have been in his home. How many millions of others are quietly evading mandatory precautions?

Here in Ecuador people are quietly getting vaccinated and taking sensible precautions.

For example on entering a supermarket, you temperature is taken you are given alcohol gel for the hands, and your shopping buggy handle is wipes with alcohol for you. Customers are assigned to checkouts and there are waiting spots marked on the floor.

There is no massive panic but people are aware of the disease and always wearing the face masks except when eating in restaurants, or within homes.

We are not hearing much from the “there is nothing wrong with being fat” brigade in the US these days.

Influenza evolves all the time and new vaccines are produced every year. I had the Sinovac which was made from killed virus. They can always kill some more viruses and make some more vaccine.

And why are they not having so much problem with the virus in China? Is it because people are obeying precautions?

In England the Pakistani and Bangladeshi populations have been badly hit, but is this because the virus discriminates against Curry eaters, or is it because those people are not taking proper precautions and getting vaccinated?

Did the methodology of pre-clinical and clinical trials on the covid vaxxes include a challenge of fully vaxxed humans against covid infection vs. those that have recovered from a wild covid infection so similarly challenged … to see the differential (if any)?

All this talk by Fauci and others seems to guide the public convo away from that question. Who cares if the vaxx reduces symptoms, if that is tantamount to an up-titer of viral load before symptoms are noticed? Because in that event … the vaxxed would be driving the spread – no? Who cares if the vaxx can provide you with 95%, 90%, 60%, 40% …..and now probably as low as 30% protection against delta variant infection (as per Covid Officialdom’s ever-changing reports in this respect), when even at the 95% level ….. we really don’t know what this means, if the challenge in the first paragraph above, was never conducted before vaxx roll-out. How does this 95%, actually rate, by way of asking Sowell’s ever-necessary ‘compared to what’ question? It seems a recovery from a wild covid infection, always provided said individual with protection against reinfection, as multiple times better than vaxx ….. and yet this has just remained unsaid, after months and months of vaxx roll-out, because it seems that nobody asks the question …. which is actually just an illusion that nobody asks the question, because: The truth is there are plenty of people that see all this, ask about these types of issues, but are continually censored.

Mr Unz: You are a journalistic truth-detective, with the kind of hyper-focus that could shed light, as to what precisely happened, pre-clinical and clincial-trials-wise, that allows Fauci and others to continue with their obfuscating rhetoric. The data from both Israel and UK are unequivocal: CFR now is literally at a level of seasonal flu (that’s overall, must be lower in vaccinated). If you were not depressed over flu in the past, there is no reason to be depressed now over Covid. Chances are overwhelming that, should you get infected, it will be just like regular cold at worse. Unless you are unlucky and the vaccine did not elicit appreciable immune response in your body.

Natural immunity prevents COVID infections better than the vaccines, especially against the new variants. Young people are better off not getting vaccinated so they can acquire natural immunity. Millions of young Americans have natural immunity but are not aware because they had no symptoms or very mild symptoms. Half the US population is under the age of 43 and 72 million of them have natural immunity. Americans under the age of 40 have little reason to get the experimental vaccines.

It is well known that crazy people often attach their delusions to current affairs news, but is it possible that current affairs news can actually turn more people delusional? Covid-19 seems to be causing an exponential rise in insanity.

It seems like most discussions regarding Covid cause staunch disagreements and are hotly contested, and I don’t have much to say about all of the vaccines. The claims that they are a certain percent effective, I think, will only be borne out after all of this is over.

I’ve come away convinced, however, that two therapeutics have been very successful in combating the problem so long as they are taken early: Ivermectin and HCQ (when taken with Zinc and Azithromycin). Two good friends are family docs and have given me good reason to believe this. You can talk to your doctor and have them prescribed prophylactically. It should also be kept in mind that this is still something that affects persons that are 70+ (likely the age of your friend’s mother, who I hope recovers).

I have been trying to spend more time outdoors and away from the computer and TV. Frankly, that’s probably good advice for most things.

I was a little annoyed that people were so afraid of it and all the disruption we have suffered for a weak little flu.

3. When you start to freak go to Google and search “Covid cases”. It will show you graphs of cases and deaths by state and county. Currently it shows California data up until July 25. And you will see Nobody Is Dying. Cases are going up because testing is going up. “Deaths” are like how Homicides are the telling stat among crime stats: A body is a real thing.

4. Trust your numeracy and what you know. A virus will most likely mutate away from lethality: Data is bearing this out.

You’d have to work that out over a long period of living in the smog. It sure would have been nice to have been living there in the time of Jim Rockford, the mid-1970s, driving your 2nd-gen Camaro through the canyons and out across the mountains to Tehachapi or wherever. There may have been a price to pay, not even counting the fiery wrecks I’d have gotten in due to not knowing how to properly perform a Jim Rockford turn-around.

A useful outpatient treatment might have kept a lot of people out of the hospital too. And there seem to be a couple (Hydroxychloroquine and Zinc, Ivermectin), but they were suppressed by the medical and public-health establishments so as to make vaccines appear to be the only option.

Having had a SARS-COV2 infection seems to confer better immunity than having had the vaccine, at least based on the recent data from Israel. And that is what one would expect; the human body has a pretty complex defense-in-depth immune system. When it functions well, it’s pretty good. If more young people, who have virtually no risk of severe illness from the virus, had gotten it and developed natural immunity, we’d be a lot closer to herd immunity.

And the vaccines themselves appear to have killed several thousand people. How many is not known and I certainly wouldn’t expect an honest answer from the CDC. But just by considering the mechanism by which the vaccines work indicates that they would likely be harmful in some people. The vaccine probably works for a lot of people, and it probably can be quite dangerous for some people. That’s the sort of thing that might have come out of more extensive clinical trials, which weren’t done because this was the Apocalypse.

I suggest turning off the mainstream news for a while, despite the blog fodder it produces. Many families up here in the north have been living normally – shopping, gathering, going out – and we are not all falling ill or dropping dead. But we don’t turn on the panic porn on the television.

A problem with restricting travel is that there are now immigrant diasporas who have funerals, families etc to visit and are acting as agents to bring in things like the Delta variant into Australia, for example, which would otherwise be in a prime place to operate normally due to their isolation. Indeed, Australia has operated normally through most of this because of that. Ditto for New Zealand.

Fully vaccinated people thought they could go around without a mask. They caught the virus. The vaccine did its thing, but only after they had a slight infection. In the interim they were spreading covid to the unvaxxed. The delta variant puts out a thousand times the viral load which makes it even more likely the vaxxed would catch and spread. I’m Getting Depressed About Covid Again

It’s not going away, clearly. It would be good if they could roll out strain specific boosters faster, but it seems like the process is still going to take months. What depresses ME is that a variety of effective Covid-prevention techniques have been virtually ignored. I will take but one example: air-quality improvement. About a year ago, at the office of my smart, Asian-American (oops, redundancy) oral surgeon, I observed that the air-return vents in the ceiling had been purring away frequently during my visit. I asked if she had coupled an air exchanger onto her HVAC system. Indeed, she had, thus “diluting” the Covid load for a paltry $1,000. A different air-improvement technology is the use of special lamps tuned to the narrow Covid-neutralizing frequency.

My second depression trigger: Whenever I read that a particular gap in Covid knowledge exists because studies to obtain the knowledge would be “logistically” difficult. “Logistics” is an infuriating euphemism for “expensive and complicated.”

Stupidity abounds, and this is especially depressing and mystifying, because the Fed’s printing press has been, at least for now, free. Signing-off from California, where the police harbor boat chased-down the solitary paddle-boarder.

Me, I’m not depressed at all. This whole “epidemic” is a global-scale fitness test, and I’m not talking about immune systems.

It seems that the elites finally found your pressure point, and every boomer’s pressure point, really: your health. And now, as I’m not the first to point out, you’re suddenly unable to notice what’s obviously going on around you.

By taking the shots, many people, especially younger people, are weakening their natural immunity and often acquiring both short-term acute and long-term chronic heart disease for what is increasingly turning out to be a near-worthless “vax”. Singapore and some other countries, who are less eager to fudge their statistics with heavily biased testing protocols and reporting guidelines, report that most of the new cases are coming from the vaccinated group. The breakthrough rate appears to be nearly 50% when you look at closed environments and actually do the math yourself rather than relying on what the cable news anchor is saying.

But that is likely not the whole story. I don’t believe that it’s really mostly the vaccinated who are getting it – just the vaccinated who are getting hospitalized for it. Because we warned you all, months ago, that evidence was piling up that these experimental spike-protein vaccines could sensitize people to other strains, and lo and behold, that’s exactly what they did. Delta strain is so mild that the unvaccinated – unmodified is more like it – never experience anything more than a bad cold, and rarely any noticeable symptoms at all. That’s why the stats look so lopsided. Even in America where they’ll test the unmodified for Covid if they go in for a hangnail, they can’t come up with enough cases to make that stat look good for the vax.

And that was before we learned about the cytotoxicity.

You should be depressed, and ashamed for pushing the same nonsense from the same reporters and “experts” whom you’ve already identified as power-hungry liars and grifters in every other walk of life. This thing was basically over before we had any vaccines, cases were declining in states that never had any lockdowns and confirmed deaths had fallen to near zero despite the “anyone who tests positive for Covid has it reported as the cause of death” rule. If you eliminate iatrogenic deaths, the natural Covid deaths had probably zeroed out weeks or months earlier. We told you all this, and we told you the vaccine was unnecessary and stupid and likely to cause more problems than it would solve, and that your theories tying the 2020 sham-election results to vaccine releases were dumb, and that if Trump were half as competent as anyone believed then he would have done everything he could to prevent such a catastrophic rollout.

And did you listen? Did any of you listen? Of course not. You injected yourselves and tried to shame your neighbors into it, and every time some new evidence comes up, you write it off as “but this virus is just so tenacious and dangerous and scary and depressing!” Yeah, for those who refuse to get over it. To the rest of us, you might as well be prattling on about the dangers of white privilege and manspreading.

So I’m not depressed. I feel great. While I was admittedly a little late to the skeptics’ party, I saw the light last year and have been repeatedly vindicated by everything that has happened since then. Covid is a big bag o’ nothin’ that brought a few people already on death’s doorstep though that door, and although I initially did feel a little bad about that, the stated desire of that same group to have the rest of us coerced and experimented on and endangered just so they can hang on for a few extra months has removed all of that sympathy.

Everything is as it should be. Those who resisted the evil are staying relatively safe. I wouldn’t put it past these spiteful bastards to try to deliberately engineer a new strain that only targets the unmodified, but I don’t think they’re smart enough, considering that seems to be precisely the sort of research they were already doing (badly) when “coof zero” escaped the lab.

When it became apparent that this thing was pretty wide spread (around early March of 2020), I predicted it would be around for a long time, that there would be no knockout punch vaccine, that we would not get rid of it, but happily it would not get rid of us. I see no reason to change any of those predictions. Life is full of risk and has a 100% mortality rate. Just because we now have a new risk (far from the worst) to calculate in the mix, is not anything to get all depressed about. The government, media, and establishment in general reactions cause a lot of anxiety and that’s what they’re intended to do. Masking and (anti-) social distancing are especially evil because they physically condition us to treat our fellow humans with fear and loathing. Avoid or get around the regulations as much as possible. A more social and less distanced life will be one with more happiness and less depression.

Vaccines stop people from dying of Covid. Given the number of cases in the UK, deaths should be 1000+.

Instead, they are 20+ and mostly the unvaccinated.

While “cases” are rising, hospitalization levels are nowhere near where they were in prior waves. In other words, maybe these current levels are perfectly normal for respiratory illnesses every year in the past, except now it’s all blown out of proportion.

Does anyone have a deaths or hospitalization chart for respiratory illnesses of all sorts that goes back ten or 20 years? I feel it might be instructive for the current moment. After all, people have always died of respiratory illnesses. 50,000 deaths in a flu season is perfectly normal. Or at least it was. It will never be normal again because they won’t let it be.

Looks pretty good, and I think they are about 10% fully vaccinated. I believe they are also good at using ivermectin to treat cases, which brings fatality down.

I believe natural immunity provides MUCH better, longer lasting immunity than that from the vaccines (which appear to need boosters already), and wish that more places were serious about helping people determine if they have had it already. It is likely most do.

We do not actually know how many people are infected with SARS-2. We can know how many people show symptoms, of course, and that can be an urgent matter. We saw that last year from China to Italy to New York to California and beyond. But “showing symptoms” is a subset of “infected with SARS-2”.

We do not know this, because the Polymerase Chain Reaction test is over broad, or if you prefer, over sensitive. The number of cycles, Ct, determines the sensitivity. Given a high enough Ct even viral fragments, not capable of causing infection, can be detected. This is well known within the science world, but not commonly discussed on CNN, MSNBC, etc.

As many here know I am very critical of the anti-vaxxors but I don’t see any reason to be depressed.

The Delta curve is already starting to peak in some states.

But I would definitely avoid parties and crowded areas in the next two weeks, even if you are vaccinated. Wear a mask if you have to be in poorly ventilated areas with strangers. Avoid traveling on planes or trains. The Delta is going to rise and fall but won’t take more than a month.

The Delta is going to rip through the remaining low hanging fruit. Basically people that are unvaccinated and also not avoiding risky situations. My wife knows someone that falls into that category. She got it last week after having a small party. Didn’t want the vaccine because she believed that she had beat it by this point.

Viruses are more likely to mutate into but more contagious forms but with same or less lethality.

The mRNA vaccines actually have the potential to correctly prevent the flu instead of guessing based on previous mutations. In fact there has been talk of a combo shot being possible. So you get a Delta/flu vaccine in one.

How is any of that bad news, given that vaccination — at least in the US — is there for anyone who wants it? Yes, we do live amongst anti-vaxxers and people like that are a blight on humanity, but that isn’t exactly news.

B. The CDC is dumping the PCR test. See Craig Paul Roberts. The implication is that they are dumping it because it is faulty. Which I believe a number of very highly qualified people have suggested is the case. So if you’re basing your assessments of increase and decrease of infection on PCR tests, perhaps you might want to take a grain of salt, wait a bit, and re=assess upon the appearance of new information.

We’re not in the best case scenario, which would have been that the vaccine results in sterilising immunity and drops transmission down to zero. But we’re in a pretty good place, where the vaccine still seems to be more effective at reducing hospitalisation and death than even the best non-pharmaceutical interventions, and also seems to be more effective than remdesvir, ivermectin, HCQ, respirators, zinc, or whatever other treatments floating around out there. I’m mildly concerned about supposed “long covid,” but it sounds like the cognitive impact scales with the severity of symptoms, so hopefully that means that vaccinated individuals and children have minimal risk.

So here’s a categorical argument: apart from HIV, can you name a single serious viral disease which hosts primarily in humans (i.e. not animal vectored or animal reservoired like the flu) that has evaded our serious attempts at control through vaccination?

I can’t.

That’s not to say that the first iteration of the polio vaccine or the smallpox vaccine or anything else was the definitive version. Sometimes it took years to work these things out. But we did. And we managed to maintain normal, healthy, prosperous and free societies while suffering epidemic waves before we had perfected our polio vaccines and the like.

Covid, with an IFR of 0.x% and a penchant for taking out mainly the superannuated, didn’t and still doesn’t have the inherent virulence to cause a true civilization-level effect. It is not the Black Death, or even the Spanish Flu, by orders of magnitude. Sometimes I ask myself — how many generations back would we have to travel in time to find a version of American society that wouldn’t even have noticed Covid entering circulation; that is, there weren’t too many frail old people clinging to life in nursing homes, and technology wasn’t advanced enough to identify and sequence the novel virus in time to really notice. My best guess is maybe the early 1950s, but almost certainly no further back than the late 1930s. I.e. the Nuclear Age, not the Stone Age.

Covid might be the straw that breaks the back of our rotten and degenerate modern culture, but that’s our fault, not Covid’s fault. And the solution to the real problem, therefore, lies not in the tip of a vaccine syringe.

Things are fine in my corner of Europe (not Sweden). It is reason to feel good that the surge is not necessarily indicative of vaccine failure or weakness and what’s happening was “to be expected” to some degree with a more infectious strain like delta but just because it’s more infectious, not necessarily because the vaccine works less on it. ​

As i’m led to understand (and i’m not claiming deep understanding or correctness here):
There appear to be two mostly independent types of immunity: “systemic immunity” which basically applies to stuff that makes it into your blood or to tissues where a lot of your blood gets to.

“mucosal immunity”: more localized resistance in mucosal tissues. And this apparently is at least somewhat localized (e.g. you can have resistance in your throat and nose, but not in your stomach and vice-versa).

Systemic immunity is what you get from the vaccines or serious covid and it protects you from serious covid of the type when the virus starts circulating everywhere. It’s not too effective to getting light / asymptomatic covid which may just infect “surface areas” of your nose and throat.

“mucosal immunity” you would get from inhaling some covid and it makes the exposed tissues locally more resistant if they inhale covid again at a later date.

Even without mutations coming into play this model explains why:

1) vaccinated people can still get covid. The type of anti-bodies / resistance they have apparently doesn’t protect (or considerably less) from that mucosal tissue getting infected AND spreading the infection to others. (though it will more quickly shutdown covid the virus from getting into the blood and spreading)

2) If you’ve had mild “throat covid”, to coin a term, you’ll be resistant to future exposures of throat covid, but if you get some large does in areas not previously hit that manages to spread you can still be in trouble because the original case didn’t get “deep” enough to elicit a full system response and its attendant “systemic immunity”

In May 2021 the large decline in 2020 births was reported widely. The biggest decline was Dec 2020, ie the first covid cohort.

Today I wanted updates. The CDC doesn’t have anything from 2021 nationally, but California is updated thru 6/2021.

The plunge continued to March 2021, then recovered to pre-Covid early 2020 levels April May and June 2021.

It varies however. The big CDC report in May for 2020 trends showed Asian births dropped much more than other races. That seems to be the case still. Fairly white Orange and San Diego is actually now above pre-Covid birth levels, while very Asian Santa Clara is well below.

In total, births dropped by 4.7% in 2021 San Diego to June, but 6.5% in Santa Clara and 6.9% in LA.

It looks like 2021 will be the largest drop in births in recent US history in the 4% range and then maybe recover about 1% in 2022 due to delayed births and a strong economy, and then return to the long term secular declining trend.

Those excess death articles you posted need to be updated, India as the Americans say hit the ball out of the park or rather into orbit. More than 4 million have perished. Of course it was just waiting to happen in a densely crowded filthy country. That’s why the variant is wreaking havoc across the world anything that can fuck Indians up is very dangerous because everyone there has strong immunity from living in squalor.

India lacks an authoritative estimate of the death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic. We report excess mortality estimates from three different data sources from the pandemic’s start through June 2021. First, extrapolation of state-level civil registration from seven states suggests 3.4 million excess deaths. Second, applying international estimates of age-specific infection fatality rates (IFR) to Indian seroprevalence data implies a higher toll of around 4 million. Third, our analysis of the Consumer Pyramid Household Survey, a longitudinal panel of over 800,000 individuals across all states, yields an estimate of 4.9 million excess deaths.
