I recently got to meet social psychologist Lee Jussim [Email him] of Rutgers University. Back in 2001 I had reviewed a book Dr. Jussim had written in collaboration with two other scholars, book title Stereotype Accuracy: Toward Appreciating Group Differences. My review was titled “Stereotypes Aren’t So Bad,” which is more or less the message of the book.
So here I was a few days ago meeting Lee Jussim for the first time, sixteen years and ten months after reviewing his book. I remarked to him that this sets my own personal record for longest interval between reviewing a person’s book and actually meeting the person. Dr. Jussim, who is a cheerful and good-natured fellow, laughed appreciatively.
Here’s another much-too-long delay featuring Lee Jussim.
Last year, Jussim and another social psychologist, Jonathan Haidt—Haidt is the author of that excellent 2012 book The Righteous Mind, about the moral psychology of our political beliefs—published an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal: Hard Truths About Race on Campus.
That op-ed pointed out a thing that would be obvious if we had not all been so heavily indoctrinated to not notice obvious facts about race.
Affirmative Action policies in college admissions, wrote Jussim and Haidt, along with “Diversity” indoctrination and the rest of the college “Social Justice” rackets have caused the intense and bitter racialization of our campuses.
Their argument went, that because of Affirmative Action,
Asian students enter with combined math/verbal SAT scores on the order of 80 points higher than white students and 200 points higher than black students …
As a result of these disparate admissions standards, many students spend four years in a social environment where race conveys useful information about the academic capacity of their peers. People notice useful social cues, and one of the strongest causes of stereotypes is exposure to real group differences. [Link in original]
Jussim and Haidt’s op-ed was published May 6th, 2016. A week later, on May 12th, Jonathan Haidt put up a very striking post on the Heterodox Academy website. I missed that post at the time, and just recently had it brought to my attention.
So that’s a year and a half between news item and my commenting on it; not as long as between me reviewing Lee Jussim’s book and finally meeting him, but embarrassingly long none the less.
So: Jonathan Haidt’s post last year at Heterodox Academy—why did I find it so striking?
I’ll let Jonathan Haidt explain. This is taken from his post. He’s referring back to his joint Wall Street Journal op-ed with Lee Jussim the previous week:
As that essay was going to press, Heterodox Academy member Amy Wax sent us the text of an astonishing letter written in 1969, at the dawn of racial preferences, from Macklin Fleming, Justice of the California Court of Appeal. Judge Fleming had written a personal letter to Louis Pollak, the dean of Yale Law School.
Fleming was concerned about the plan Dean Pollak had recently announced under which Yale would essentially implement a racial quota—ten percent of each entering class would be composed of black students. To achieve this goal, Yale had just admitted 43 black students, only five of whom had qualified under their normal standards.
So Yale Law School had implemented race quotas, and this California Appeals Court judge had something to say about it. What did he say? Quote from the judge:
The admission policy adopted by the Law School faculty will serve to perpetuate the very ideas and prejudices it is designed to combat. If in a given class the great majority of the black students are at the bottom of the class, this factor is bound to instill, unconsciously at least, some sense of intellectual superiority among the white students and some sense of intellectual inferiority among the black students.
This was written in 1969, remember. The judge continues:
No one can be expected to accept an inferior status willingly. The black students, unable to compete on even terms in the study of law, inevitably will seek other means to achieve recognition and self-expression. This is likely to take two forms. First, agitation to change the environment from one in which they are unable to compete to one in which they can … Second, it seems probable that this group will seek personal satisfaction and public recognition by aggressive conduct, which, although ostensibly directed at external injustices and problems, will in fact be primarily motivated by the psychological needs of the members of the group to overcome feelings of inferiority caused by lack of success in their studies.

The main point here is that near the very beginning of Affirmative Action, Judge Fleming (pictured right in 2006) saw with perfect clarity how it would lead to the resentments, frustrations, and discord that characterize the racial situation today.
In Jonathan Haidt’s words:
If you read Judge Fleming’s predictions after watching the videos of student protests, and then reading the lists of demands posted at TheDemands.org, the match is uncanny.
Indeed it is.
Judge Fleming died in 2010 aged almost 99. I wonder how he felt, seeing all his dire predictions come true.
A prophet is without honor in his own country, we are told. That has proved nowhere more true than in matters related to the National Question.
Judge Fleming’s letter, once again, went out in 1969, on June 9th of that year to be exact. A little over a year previously in Britain, Enoch Powell had made his famous speech predicting the future consequences of mass Third World immigration. The opening words of that speech were: “The supreme function of statesmanship is to provide against preventable evils.”
Powell was denounced and ostracized by the entire British Establishment for his predictions, which of course have all come true. Judge Fleming seems not to have suffered that level of ignominy. His predictions were merely ignored.
Moral of the story: When clear-eyed prophecies about the future consequences of present actions contradict fashionable dogmas, they will generally be ignored. But if the prophet is a person of national prominence, he will be unanimously denounced by what George Bernard Shaw called the Great and Good, and stripped of his honors.
Indeed, “The supreme function of statesmanship is to provide against preventable evils.” And one of the functions of responsible citizenship for mature authority figures like Judge Macklin Fleming is to sound the alarm bell when they see preventable evils in the ascendant.
It is the tragedy of the modern West that prophets like Enoch Powell and Macklin Fleming have no honor in their own countries.

Affirmative Action didn’t cause racial strife. There were plenty of race riots prior to it’s induction. Low functioning minorities were, if anything, somewhat pacified by AA. The problem is that low functioning minority groups can’t be “given a chance,” they have to be given explicit patronage. That cannot be sustained with or without a growing white population to victimize. Resentment is going to fester either way. Unfortunately, liberals like Haidt do not have the courage to take an objective measure of the situation and admit that low functioning minority resentment is unwarranted, that they enjoy much better lives than their ethnic kin abroad, and that they should appreciate that or leave. Without the latter becoming common liberal parlance, Americans are defenseless against the advance of this patronage system.
I knew Mac Fleming. We were members of the same tennis club and both avid players though I was much younger than he. [Almost everybody was.] I’m also an attorney with one distinction: I was 65 when first admitted to the bar after a career in tech; Mac gave me Holme’s book on the law as a gift when I was admitted. Mac was a quiet, gentle and thoughtful man, respected by all. He also wrote and thought well. It is a pleasure to read opinions he authored. I never heard him opine on politics or culture in any but a diffident way and, even then, infrequently. Maybe he just didn’t want to get involved at his club. But he was surely right on with his letter.
Judge Fleming was an optimist. As Steve Sailer notes, there is a war on noticing. Consequently, good white people, who are almost entirely uni educated, refuse to notice in their 4 plus years of college the outcome predicted by the judge. Only an evil person would notice that blacks score in the bottom of the class unless there is an acceptable narrative about white privilege or white supremacy keeping them down. It is sad that Asians keep insisting on disrupting the narrative because that brings even more pressure to not notice.
Those silly Negroes. Don’t they get it? For fifty years now they’ve been hassling White kids at law schools, terrorizing them, beating them up, stealing from them, screwing the White girls and beating THEM up too. These White kids are the real deal, so after all the abuse the White kids have been required to tolerate from Negroes, the Whites go on to become cops, lawyers, Judges, politicians, in other words, ruling class. And so is it any wonder the maximum sentencing guidelines, maximum sentences for drugs, for dealing, for murder, for anything that a Negro might come before a given judge for? Those judges and cops are tainted for having been exposed to the lower orders of the Negro race in their White formative years. They know Blacks are a feral, violent and ugly group as a whole, there’s no “stereotype”, this is what they ARE. The ruling class knows. And the Negroes, instead of wising up and finding other groups to hassle, keep on keeping on against White kids. Well, fuck em. As a group, Negroes, as individuals, as cop-shoots, name the hassle, I can only grant leniency to the judges that throw the book at feral Negros.
Then again, if they aren’t smart enough to realize all this, why should Whites care for the Negro plight? It’s a fatigue, a weariness at hearing, after asking how much is enough, only “More” in reply.

Richard Weaver is one of the many great thinkers who has been removed from the academy by our Stalinists and Trotskyites. He taught at the University of Chicago and is best known for the indispensable book Ideas Have Consequences.
Weaver’s posthumously published dissertation, The Southern Tradition at Bay, is a study of Southern writing during and just after Reconstruction. Anyone familiar with that work would have known that blacks not only would not be made smarter or harder working (in legal ways) by Affirmative Action, but instead would have come to resent those who gave them that ‘Christmas gif’, and would have hated even more those whites they knew they displaced by the receipt of the gift.
None of that was done without knowledge. Yes, there were individuals who so acted certain the fruits would be diametrically different than they became immediately. But almost all of the real actors knew that the Yankee WASP Elites has made Negroes the nation’s pet sacred cows, sacred cows the WAP Elites and their Jewish allies used as weapons and pawns against all other white Christians.
Why don’t you call them what they are? Aside from recent African immigrants, there are probably NO negroes in the USA; they’re invariably white/ black hybrids. In fact, most of those called “black” in this country appear mostly white to me!

Good point. People simply have to accept the reality of differences in ability, and go from there. I don’t see protests against professional sports franchises because of black dominance. Why don’t sport franchises’ players reflect the societal ratios of black/latino/asian/white? If Yale must lower the standards to admit blacks, why don’t the Lakers have to lower its standards to have 90/10 white to black player ratio?
If one is to think to the end Judge Fleming’s logic and advice, then mixed classes are poisonous and should never have been tried. Corollary: Separation (apartness) is indicated. Moreover, some kind of acceptable reason has to be found to justify the system and moderate the natural resentment of the chronically underachievers. Let say, God ordered it. Another possibility is to establish a fake (formal but never really imposed) discrimination legislation, that would allow for the underdogs to explain to themselves and their girlfriends their failure, and an the other hand, open all the doors to ambitious and capable individuals.The English class society was like that for centuries, and America was like that in the early XXth Century.

Reparations for the systemic denial of access to high quality educational opportunities in the form of full and free access for all Black people (including undocumented and currently and formerly incarcerated people) to lifetime education including: free access and open admissions to public community colleges and universities, technical education (technology, trade and agricultural), educational support programs, retroactive forgiveness of student loans, and support for lifetime learning programs.
Reparations for the continued divestment from, discrimination toward and exploitation of our communities in the form of a guaranteed minimum livable income for all Black people, with clearly articulated corporate regulations.
Reparations for the wealth extracted from our communities through environmental racism, slavery, food apartheid, housing discrimination and racialized capitalism in the form of corporate and government reparations focused on healing ongoing physical and mental trauma, and ensuring our access and control of food sources, housing and land.
Reparations for the cultural and educational exploitation, erasure, and extraction of our communities in the form of mandated public school curriculums that critically examine the political, economic, and social impacts of colonialism and slavery, and funding to support, build, preserve, and restore cultural assets and sacred sites to ensure the recognition and honoring of our collective struggles and triumphs.
Legislation at the federal and state level that requires the United States to acknowledge the lasting impacts of slavery, establish and execute a plan to address those impacts. This includes the immediate passage of H.R.40, the “Commission to Study Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act” or subsequent versions which call for reparations remedies.
Invest-divest
We demand investments in the education, health and safety of Black people, instead of investments in the criminalizing, caging, and harming of Black people. We want investments in Black communities, determined by Black communities, and divestment from exploitative forces including prisons, fossil fuels, police, surveillance and exploitative corporations. This includes:
A reallocation of funds at the federal, state and local level from policing and incarceration (JAG, COPS, VOCA) to long-term safety strategies such as education, local restorative justice services, and employment programs.
The retroactive decriminalization, immediate release and record expungement of all drug related offenses and prostitution, and reparations for the devastating impact of the “war on drugs” and criminalization of prostitution, including a reinvestment of the resulting savings and revenue into restorative services, mental health services, job programs and other programs supporting those impacted by the sex and drug trade.
Real, meaningful, and equitable universal health care that guarantees: proximity to nearby comprehensive health centers, culturally competent services for all people, specific services for queer, gender nonconforming, and trans people, full bodily autonomy, full reproductive services, mental health services, paid parental leave, and comprehensive quality child and elder care.
A constitutional right at the state and federal level to a fully-funded education which includes a clear articulation of the right to: a free education for all, special protections for queer and trans students, wrap around services, social workers, free health services (including reproductive body autonomy), a curriculum that acknowledges and addresses students’ material and cultural needs, physical activity and recreation, high quality food, free daycare, and freedom from unwarranted search, seizure or arrest.
A divestment from industrial multinational use of fossil fuels and investment in community- based sustainable energy solutions.
A cut in military expenditures and a reallocation of those funds to invest in domestic infrastructure and community well-being.
Economic Justice
We demand economic justice for all and a reconstruction of the economy to ensure Black communities have collective ownership, not merely access. This includes:
A progressive restructuring of tax codes at the local, state, and federal levels to ensure a radical and sustainable redistribution of wealth.
Federal and state job programs that specifically target the most economically marginalized Black people, and compensation for those involved in the care economy. Job programs must provide a living wage and encourage support for local workers centers, unions, and Black-owned businesses which are accountable to the community.
A right to restored land, clean air, clean water and housing and an end to the exploitative privatization of natural resources — including land and water. We seek democratic control over how resources are preserved, used and distributed and do so while honoring and respecting the rights of our Indigenous family.
The right for workers to organize in public and private sectors especially in “On Demand Economy” jobs.
Restore the Glass-Steagall Act to break up the large banks, and call for the National Credit Union Administration and the US Department of the Treasury to change policies and practices around regulation, reporting and consolidation to allow for the continuation and creation of black banks, small and community development credit unions, insurance companies and other financial institutions.
An end to the Trans-Pacific Partnership and a renegotiation of all trade agreements to prioritize the interests of workers and communities.
Through tax incentives, loans and other government directed resources, support the development of cooperative or social economy networks to help facilitate trade across and in Black communities globally.
All aid in the form of grants, loans or contracts to help facilitate this must go to Black led or Black supported networks and organizations as defined by the communities.
Financial support of Black alternative institutions including policy that subsidizes and offers low-interest, interest-free or federally guaranteed low-interest loans to promote the development of cooperatives (food, residential, etc.), land trusts and culturally responsive health infrastructures that serve the collective needs of our communities.
Protections for workers in industries that are not appropriately regulated including domestic workers, farm workers, and tipped workers, and for workers — many of whom are Black women and incarcerated people— who have been exploited and remain unprotected. This includes the immediate passage at the Federal and state level of the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights and extension of worker protections to incarcerated people.
Community Control
We demand a world where those most impacted in our communities control the laws, institutions, and policies that are meant to serve us – from our schools to our local budgets, economies, police departments, and our land – while recognizing that the rights and histories of our Indigenous family must also be respected. This includes:
Direct democratic community control of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, ensuring that communities most harmed by destructive policing have the power to hire and fire officers, determine disciplinary action, control budgets and policies, and subpoena relevant agency information.
An end to the privatization of education and real community control by parents, students and community members of schools including democratic school boards and community control of curriculum, hiring, firing and discipline policies.
Participatory budgeting at the local, state and federal level.
Political Power
We demand independent Black political power and Black self-determination in all areas of society.
We envision a remaking of the current U.S. political system in order to create a real democracy where Black people and all marginalized people can effectively exercise full political power. This includes:
An end to the criminalization of Black political activity including the immediate release of all political prisoners and an end to the repression of political parties.
Public financing of elections and the end of money controlling politics through ending super PACs and unchecked corporate donations.
Election protection, electoral expansion and the right to vote for all people including: full access, guarantees, and protections of the right to vote for all people through universal voter registration, automatic voter registration, pre-registration for 16-year-olds, same day voter registration, voting day holidays, Online Voter Registration (OVR), enfranchisement of formerly and presently incarcerated people, local and state resident voting for undocumented people, and a ban on any disenfranchisement laws.
Full access to technology including net neutrality and universal access to the internet without discrimination and full representation for all.

A quick look at civil rights and Affirmative Action
1865 – After the Civil War, the first legislation providing rights to African-Americans was passed. There are not infinite resources available in the economy, and eventually the carrying capacity for unproductive afros will exceed its limits. This will cause a level of scarcity that will result in major struggle for all of us.
In a way we are both manipulated by the two maj political parties… Republicans stoke the fears of their white constituents, about afro aggressions, for votes (so they can advance their corporatist agenda); and Democrats stoke the rage, animosity, and envy of afros, against whites, for votes. 1) Europe is not the only area guilty of wars… Subsaharan Africa gives it a run for its money, especially in genocidal warfare (many of the afro american ancestors were intertribal prisoners of war, that were sold to the White man). The reason that European war is more destructive is because of White invented technology, that helped to develop mechanized warfare.
2) Afro americans create urban war zones within their own communities.

Economics is about distribution of scarce resources (not make believe endless resources).
5) Economically speaking, if it wasn’t for working people paying their taxes every April 15th (and farmers growing food), the afros would starve to death (being mostly self obsessed with immediate gratification, they are mostly incapable of providing self care for their most basic needs).

When I was in college a brilliant friend couldn’t get into medical school with a 3.9 gap that he got in less than 3 years but a black girl in our class got immediately got accepted to multiple med schools with a gap of 3.1. And there were others as well. Total bs
