That’s incorrect. At the start of the war it was Western analysts that expected Russia to quickly take Ukraine. That was when it was assumed they were the number two military by both size and effectiveness.

Stripping parts from appliances was later in the war after sanctions kicked in.

Tanks have been rolling off the line since the war started and they are unable to import simple TI type chips that are used in vehicles. Those chips can be found in appliances and even some toys. Russia built up technology dependencies on the West after the fall of the USSR. Some of those chips are very specific and cannot be imported from China. Hence the stripping of appliances.

well i’m glad you asked, i had originally written vini vidi vici, but then i thought, no, it’s funny but some schoolmarm, trying to display her useless latin education, will jump all over that, missing the pun, so i’d better correct it and in the last remaining seconds of edit time, i attempted to correct it, but in error, mistakenly changed the vici to veci and hit save. looking for the correction to veni in the edit, i didn’t see it and again tried correcting the vini to veni, without noticing, i had in error changed vici to veci.

so you see it’s complicated and i should have left it, vini vidi vici which would have been hilarious 😂, in spite of any looks of distaste on any lonely schoolmarms face.
